Gli eroi di Utoya: la lettera di un ragazzo scampato al massacro di Breivik

Ecco la lettera di uno degli  eroi di Utoya. E' un ragazzo di 16 anni, si chiama  Ivar Benjamin Oesteboe  ed è uno di quelli scampati al massacro di Breivik. Ne pubblica una versione inglese The Sidney Morning Herald, sull'originale pubblicato dal sito norvegese Dagbladet.

 "You describe yourself as a hero, as a knight. You are no hero," Ivar Benjamin Oesteboe, who lost five friends in the shootings, said in the letter addressed: "Dear Anders Behring Breivik."

"But one thing is certain, you have created heroes. On Utoya on that warm July day, you created some of the greatest heroes the world has seen, you united the people of the world," the teenager wrote.

"We are not responding to evil with evil as you wanted. We are fighting evil with good. And we are winning.

"Maybe you think you've won. Maybe you think you've destroyed the Labour Party and people around the world who stand for a multicultural society by killing my friends and fellow party members.

"Know that you failed," said the letter posted on Facebook and published yesterday in Norway's Dagbladet newspaper.

On July 22, the day of the attacks, Ivar hid with others on the island's shore when he heard the first gunshots. They thought Breivik, who was dressed in a police uniform, was there to help them.

"We called out to him, waving our arms. He was there, trying to reassure those around him. All of a sudden, without batting an eye, he turned around and started shooting at people in the water," he said.

The young man survived by running towards police who arrived on the island at 6.25pm, about 80 minutes after the shooting rampage started.

"You have united us ... You have killed my friends, but you have not killed our cause, our opinion, our right to express ourselves. Muslim women have been hugged by Norwegian women in the street in sympathy ... Your act has worked against its purpose. We have created a community," he told his attacker.

"You deserve to hear how your plan worked. A lot of people are angry, you are Norway's most hated man. I am not mad. I am not afraid of you. You can't get to us, we are bigger than you."

". Ti descrivi come un eroe, come un cavaliere Tu non sei un eroe," Ivar Benjamin Oesteboe, che ha perso cinque amici nella sparatoria, ha detto nella lettera indirizzata: "Caro Anders Behring Breivik"."Ma una cosa è certa, hai creato degli eroi. A Utoya, in quel giorno di un caldo mese di luglio, hai creato alcuni dei più grandi eroi che si siano visti al mondo, hai  unito tutti i popoli del mondo". "Non risponderemo al male con il male, come  volevi. Stiamo combattendo il male con il bene. E stiamo vincendo."Forse  pensi di aver vinto. Forse, uccidendo i miei amici e colleghi di partito, pensi di aver distrutto il partito laburista e la gente di tutto il mondo che lotta per una società multiculturale ."Sappi che non ci sei riuscito", così diceva la lettera pubblicata su Facebook e pubblicata ieri sul quotidiano norvegese Dagbladet.Il 22 luglio, il giorno degli attacchi, Ivar si era nascosto con gli altri sulla spiaggia dell'isola, quando aveva sentito i primi spari. Pensavano che Breivik, che era vestito con una divisa della polizia, fosse lì per aiutarli."L'abbiamo chiamato, agitando le braccia. Era lì, cercando di rassicurare coloro che lo circondavano.Tutto ad un tratto, senza batter ciglio, si è voltato e ha iniziato a sparare alla gente in acqua," .Il giovane è sopravvissuto correndo verso la  polizia  arrivata ​​sull'isola alle 18:25, circa 80 minuti dopo l'inizio del massacro."Tu ci hai uniti ... Hai ucciso i miei amici, ma non hai ucciso la nostra causa, il nostro pensiero, il nostro diritto di esprimerci. In strada, le donne musulmane sono state abbracciate dalle donne norvegesi, in segno di solidarietà ... Il tuo gesto  ha sortito l'effetto contrario. Abbiamo creato una comunità ", ha detto al suo aggressore."Meriti di sapere come il tuo piano ha funzionato. Un sacco di gente è arrabbiata, sei l'uomo più odiato della Norvegia. Io non sono pazzo. Io non ho paura di te. Non puoi arrivare a noi, siamo più grandi di te".
