Italian naval guards remanded to 3 days police custody

In Kerela, the two Italian naval guards of Vessel Enrica Lexie charged with the killing of two Indian fishermen off Kerala coast were today remanded to three-day police custody. The Naval guards - Latore Massimiliano and Salvatore Girone - were produced before Judicial Magistrate at his residence at Karunagapally in Kollam District amidst tight security.
First Class Judicial Magistrate K P Joy remanded the two accused to judicial custody till March 5, but handed them over to investigators accepting a police plea for further questioning. Both the accused have been taken back to Kochi.
The Italian duo allegedly involved in murdering two fishermen last week off Kerala coast were arrested yesterday at Kochi after days of diplomatic activity between India and Italy. Kerala police have already charged a case for murder under section 302 of IPC .
